‎Full details will be revealed when the trailer is officially released. Alongside the footage, audiences will also get to read Villeneuve’s comments about the upcoming installment and what lies ahead in the story.
‎The buildup began Monday when Timothée Chalamet shared his character poster on social media. Soon after, Warner Bros. released several additional character posters. Among them was confirmation that Isaach de Bankolé has joined the cast, portraying Farok.
‎Fans are also waiting for more information about newly added actors—some of whom have previously been reported. Another major point of curiosity surrounds the future of Paul Atreides and Chani, played by Chalamet and Zendaya, as well as how much screen time Rebecca Ferguson will have in this installment.
‎The film adapts the 1969 novel Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert and is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026.
‎Earlier reports revealed that Robert Pattinson will appear in the project. Reflecting on his time filming in the desert, Pattinson described the experience as extremely hot and said he simply followed Villeneuve’s direction. According to insiders cited in previous reporting, the actor will portray the antagonist Scytale.
‎Villeneuve reportedly filmed the movie last summer and used IMAX cameras for portions of the production.
‎Another notable addition is Anya Taylor-Joy, who briefly appeared at the end of the previous film and will return as Alia, the younger sister of Paul Atreides.
‎Pattinson, Taylor-Joy, and de Bankolé were among the nine characters featured in the newly released poster series on Monday.
‎The Dune franchise forms Legendary Entertainment’s large-scale science-fiction universe built on Herbert’s Hugo Award-winning novels. So far, the series includes Dune: Part One (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024). Together, the two films have generated $1.12 billion worldwide and collected eight Academy Awards from 15 nominations, including Best Picture nominations for both installments.
‎The universe recently expanded further with the prequel series Dune: Prophecy, created by writer-producer Alison Schapker. Set 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides, the show debuted on HBO and HBO Max in November and received strong critical praise.
