‎In a candid GQ cover story published Tuesday (Aug. 12), the NFL tight end reflected on how the pair formed a genuine bond amid constant media coverage since they began dating in 2023. “Whenever I’m with her, it feels like we’re just regular people,” Kelce said. “When there is not a camera on us, we’re just two people that are in love. It can be perceived as something else because of how much it is talked about and how much we are tracked whenever we do go out. [But] it happened very organically, even though from a media standpoint, it was being tracked.”
‎Explaining what “organically” means in their case, Kelce shared that the relationship grew from the simple act of being together in the same room. “We fell in love just based off the people we were sitting in a room together with. We are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are. We share all those values. It kind of just took the f–k off.”
‎The couple’s romance first became public when Swift attended a September 2023 home game at Arrowhead Stadium. Since then, the singer has frequently supported Kelce from a suite, often alongside his parents, Donna and Ed Kelce.
‎Speaking about his mother, the Ohio native pointed out similarities between Donna and Swift. “Their kindness, their genuineness, their ability to say hello to everyone in the room, their ability to show love and support no matter what. And on top of that, their work ethic,” he told GQ. Kelce recalled how Donna advanced from a bank teller to a high-level position at KeyBank, drawing a parallel to Swift’s own drive and accomplishments.
‎Swift’s career milestones include grossing over $2 billion on her record-breaking Eras Tour and winning a historic fourth album of the year at the 2024 Grammys. Kelce has been a vocal supporter of her achievements and even joined her in announcing her upcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on his New Heights podcast.
