Jake Paul secured the fight shortly after his scheduled bout with Gervonta Davis was canceled. The cancellation followed the filing of a civil lawsuit against Davis that included allegations of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
The upcoming fight places Paul, who has competed 13 times with 12 victories, against one of the most decorated British boxers of his era. Anthony Joshua enters the ring with 32 professional fights, 28 wins, and 25 knockouts. Their contest is set for eight three-minute rounds using 10oz gloves, marking Paul’s highest-profile challenge since his previous matchup with former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.
Most Valuable Promotions, Paul’s promotional company, is organizing the event. The fight also represents Paul’s second live showcase on Netflix, reinforcing the streaming service’s investment in high-visibility sports programming.
Jake Paul described the event as a defining moment, calling it a professional heavyweight fight against an elite champion. He stated that a victory would erase doubt surrounding his career and emphasized the global spotlight of the Miami matchup.
Anthony Joshua voiced readiness for the challenge, noting that he intends to deliver a major show upon returning to the ring. He highlighted the scale of the event and suggested that similar high-profile opportunities will continue to emerge for fighters in the future.
Netflix Sports VP Gabe Spitzer praised Joshua’s accomplishments and acknowledged Paul’s willingness to accept such a demanding fight. He pointed to the matchup as a prime example of the large-scale live events the streaming platform aims to deliver.
