Production delays pushed the renewal announcement due to scheduling adjustments for the series’ high-profile cast. Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman, who both star in and executive produce the series, are confirmed to return for the upcoming season.
The third season's storyline and casting details beyond the returning leads have not yet been released. Season 2 introduced new stakes as the CIA’s anti-terrorism operations shifted focus closer to home. According to the show’s official synopsis, Joe (Saldaña), Kaitlyn (Kidman), and Byron (Michael Kelly) brought in a new Lioness operative to target an emerging threat. Nicole Kidman’s performance earned her a 2024 Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
Season 2 featured a star-studded ensemble, including Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly, Laysla De Oliveira, Genesis Rodriguez, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill, and Hannah Love Lanier.
Sheridan’s overall production slate continues at a brisk pace. Landman is set to return for Season 2 on November 16, while Tulsa King premiered its third season on September 15 and has already secured a fourth.
Lioness is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios. The first two seasons are currently available to stream on Paramount+.
