The Puerto Rican superstar shared the announcement with fans through a short Instagram video, where he appeared perched on a beachside goalpost as his hit track “Callaita” played. In a statement, he described the moment as a tribute to his culture and history, saying, “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown … this is for my people, my culture, and our history.”
Jay-Z, founder and chairman of Roc Nation, praised the choice, emphasizing Bad Bunny’s influence and impact on Puerto Rico. “What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage,” he said.
Super Bowl LX is scheduled for February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The halftime show adds to Bad Bunny’s monumental year, which has already included the release of his latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, in January. To promote the project, he launched a 31-show residency at the iconic El Choli arena in San Juan, Puerto Rico, which concluded on September 21 with a star-studded finale streamed on Amazon Music.
Guest artists such as Marc Anthony, RaiNao, Dei V, Ñengo Flow, Arcángel, De La Ghetto, and Jowell & Randy joined him during the residency, further highlighting its historic scale.
The global star is now preparing for an extensive world tour with dates across the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Mexico later this year, followed by shows in South America, Australia, Asia, and Europe in 2026. Notably, he has chosen not to include U.S. dates on his current touring schedule, citing concerns over potential Immigration and Customs Enforcement targeting at his concerts.
After the Super Bowl announcement, Bad Bunny addressed the situation on X, writing in Spanish that he would consider performing just one show in the United States, suggesting the halftime performance could be his sole U.S. appearance.
Beyond music, the artist has expanded into acting this year with roles in Happy Gilmore 2 alongside Adam Sandler and Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing. He will also host the Season 51 premiere of Saturday Night Live on October 4, with Doja Cat as the musical guest.
Bad Bunny joins a celebrated list of recent Super Bowl halftime headliners, including Kendrick Lamar (2025), Usher (2024), Rihanna (2023), Dr. Dre with Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar (2022), the Weeknd (2021), and Shakira and Jennifer Lopez (2020).
