The pop icon announced on Instagram at 7 p.m. ET that her 12th studio LP is set for release on October 3. The album includes a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter, who previously opened for Swift’s Eras Tour, on the title track. Max Martin and Shellback, the producers behind many of Swift’s iconic hits from 1989 and Reputation, are the sole producers credited.
Swift revealed the album cover, featuring a sparkling image of herself in glittery netting, gazing directly at the camera. She also shared the complete track list, which opens with “The Fate of Ophelia” and includes songs such as “Elizabeth Taylor,” “Opalite,” “Father Figure,” and “Cancelled!” The pop star captioned her post with: “And, baby, that’s show business for you.”
The album announcement coincided with the conclusion of a countdown on Swift’s official website. Fans can now pre-order four unique editions of The Life of a Showgirl: “Sweat and Vanilla Perfume,” “It’s Frightening,” “It’s Rapturous,” and “It’s Beautiful.” Each version offers exclusive artwork, collectible photo cards, and a jewelry box featuring a charm bracelet.
At the same time, Swift appeared on boyfriend Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast. The episode, where she discussed finishing the Eras Tour, reclaiming her masters, and her upcoming album, premiered just two days after the Kelce brothers teased her guest spot with a silhouetted image against a glittery orange background.
Fans were first alerted to the album through a New Heights teaser posted on social media at 12:12 a.m. ET on August 12, in which Swift held a blurred copy of the LP and confirmed its title.
The Life of a Showgirl will be Swift’s first full-length release since 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department, which dominated the Billboard 200 for 17 weeks at number one.
