‎Sophie Turner Says Kissing Kit Harington in 'The Dreadful' Was 'Vile' After Their 'Game of Thrones' Sibling Bond

‎During her August 14 appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Turner shared that she not only stars in but also produced The Dreadful. She revealed that she personally recommended Harington to writer-director Natasha Kermani for the role of the male lead.
‎Turner and Harington previously worked together for nearly a decade, portraying siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow across all eight seasons of Game of Thrones. Although the HBO series ended in 2019, Turner noted that their dynamic as “brother and sister” has carried over into real life.
‎According to Turner, Harington initially expressed hesitation when reading the script, jokingly texting her about the unusual circumstances. “I sent the script to Kit, and he kind of sent me a message back going like, ‘Yeah, I’d love to, but this is going to be really weird, Soph,’” she recalled. Only after reviewing the screenplay did Turner realize that their characters shared multiple intimate moments.
‎Turner explained that the strength of the story outweighed their discomfort, leading both actors to commit to the project. However, she admitted that the first kissing scene was extremely difficult to film. “We put it out of our minds, and then we get on set and it’s the first kissing scene, and we are both retching. Like, really, it is vile. It was the worst,” she said.
‎Set in the 15th century, The Dreadful follows Anne (Turner) and her mother-in-law Morwen as they live in isolation on the outskirts of society. Their fragile existence is disrupted when a man from their past returns, setting off a series of life-altering events. The film features an ensemble cast including Marcia Gay Harden, Laurence O’Fuarain, and Jonathan Howard.
‎An official release date for The Dreadful has not yet been announced.
