Sean 'Diddy' Combs launches $100M lawsuit against man, lawyer, and NewsNation over damaging celebrity sex party and misconduct claims

‎Sean “Diddy” Combs has escalated his legal battle, amending a high-profile defamation lawsuit to seek $100 million in damages. The rap mogul accuses a man, his attorney, and NewsNation’s parent company Nexstar of spreading false and damaging claims about his alleged involvement in celebrity sex parties that reportedly included underage participants.

‎The revised filing, submitted Monday, August 11, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, targets Courtney Burgess, attorney Ariel Mitchell, and Nexstar. Combs originally filed the lawsuit in January as he awaited trial on separate sex trafficking and racketeering charges. His legal team argues that televised interviews with Burgess and Mitchell unleashed a wave of unfounded speculation, fueling a media storm and causing severe reputational harm.
‎According to court documents, an October interview with Burgess and a September interview with Mitchell on NewsNation contained sensational claims. Burgess alleged possession of video footage showing Combs assaulting celebrities, some appearing underage, and even displayed still images allegedly tied to the footage. One image purportedly depicted Justin Bieber kissing an unidentified male.
‎The complaint also cites Burgess’ claim that Combs’ late ex-partner Kim Porter gave him tapes and a memoir before her death in 2018. Combs’ attorneys maintain these accounts are fabricated, designed to draw public attention and profit at his expense. They assert that these interviews amplified conspiracy theories following his September federal indictment and subsequent incarceration in Brooklyn.
‎Details of Combs’ so-called “freak-off” events emerged during court proceedings, describing them as drug-fueled sexual encounters involving his girlfriend and hired male sex workers. Prosecutors allege Combs filmed the sessions, directing participants while engaging in sexual acts himself. His lawyers argue that Burgess and Mitchell misrepresented these events to imply criminal behavior involving minors.
‎The lawsuit accuses NewsNation of granting credibility to the allegations by providing Burgess and Mitchell with a mainstream platform. Combs’ legal team claims this exposure magnified the defamatory statements, sparking further speculation about which celebrities may have attended the alleged parties.
‎Burgess, subpoenaed by federal prosecutors for grand jury testimony, stood by his claims in a NewsNation interview. He asserted the Bieber image was authentic and alleged that two or three of the eight celebrities depicted in the footage appeared to be minors. Combs’ attorneys reject these statements as baseless fabrications intended to inflame public opinion.
‎Court filings characterize the media coverage as a “global spectacle” devoid of journalistic integrity, driven by sensationalism rather than fact. Combs maintains there is no evidence to support the accusations and insists the defendants knowingly spread falsehoods to damage his name and reputation.
