‎LISA is a Grieving Widow in Emotional 'Dream' Music Video With Kentaro Sakaguchi

‎BLACKPINK’s LISA delivers a deeply emotional performance as a grieving widow in the five-minute music video for “Dream,” a single from her Alter Ego debut solo album. Written and directed by OJun Kwon, the cinematic piece features Japanese actor and model Kentaro Sakaguchi, known for Color Me True and The Final Piece, as LISA’s lost love.

‎The video opens with LISA in black funeral attire, seated in a pew, her voice trembling over eerie synths as she reflects on an unresolved night in Tokyo. She approaches the casket, placing a white flower on her partner’s body, before catching sight of him entering the room in a surreal vision. Her lyrics promise a place where they can be together, even if only in dreams.
‎Scenes shift to a countryside drive where Sakaguchi’s warm smile brings LISA quiet joy as she touches a wedding band hanging from her neck. Their journey continues with a late-night gas station stop, leading into black-and-white memories of dancing and laughter.
‎The narrative takes a poignant turn when LISA opens the car door to reveal a metallic urn containing her lover’s ashes. She rows to the middle of a lake, recalling a tender conversation about their next lives. LISA dreams of returning as a tree, to which Sakaguchi replies he would be the lake before it, admiring the beauty of reflected leaves. The video closes with LISA embracing the urn and scattering ashes over the water.
‎Beyond the visual release, LISA recently earned her third MTV VMA nomination for Best K-Pop for “Born Again” with Doja Cat and RAYE, following her win in the same category last year for “Rockstar.” She is currently performing on BLACKPINK’s Deadline World Tour, which will stop at London’s Wembley Stadium on August 15 and 16.
