Julian McMahon, the Australian-born actor known for his compelling roles across television and film, passed away from lung metastasis caused by head and neck metastatic cancer. The official cause of death was confirmed by the Pinellas County Medical Examiner’s Office in Florida, according to documents obtained by People.

Medical records listed the manner of death as natural. McMahon died on July 2 in Clearwater, Florida. His wife, Kelly McMahon, publicly shared the news on July 4 through a heartfelt statement to Deadline, honoring his courage and unwavering spirit in his final days.
“With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,” she said. “Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.”
McMahon first gained attention in his home country through his role on the short-lived Australian soap The Power, the Passion in 1989. He later joined the iconic series Home and Away from 1990 to 1991, paving the way for a successful international career. His film debut came in Wet and Wild Summer!, where he starred opposite Elliott Gould.
Relocating to the United States marked a turning point. McMahon secured a role on NBC’s Another World in 1993, followed by a prominent position on the crime drama Profiler. His breakthrough came with Charmed, where he captivated audiences as the enigmatic Cole Turner.
Stardom reached new heights when McMahon took the lead in FX’s acclaimed drama Nip/Tuck. Portraying Dr. Christian Troy, he earned critical acclaim and a Golden Globe nomination during the show’s six-season run. In film, he became widely recognized for his portrayal of Victor Von Doom in the Fantastic Four franchise, appearing in both the 2005 original and its 2007 sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
In recent years, McMahon starred as Jess LaCroix, team leader of the Fugitive Task Force, on CBS’s FBI: Most Wanted. His character led the series through its early seasons before his unexpected departure in March 2022. His final screen appearance was in Netflix’s murder mystery drama The Residence.
