Anna Camp talks Scream 7, on-set chemistry with Neve Campbell, and navigating personal life
Anna Camp confirmed she did revisit the Scream franchise after being cast in the highly anticipated seventh installment, scheduled for release on February 27, 2026. Describing the project as “really thrilling,” Camp shared her excitement about the experience both as an actress and a fan of the series.

Camp told The Hollywood Reporter during the Mediterrane Film Festival’s Golden Bee Awards in Malta that although she hadn’t seen the more recent films before filming, she was very familiar with the original. “I remember the first one, which I’ve seen four times already,” she said. “The other ones I had to really sit down and watch. It’s just fun.” She emphasized that the new film’s focus on Sidney Prescott, portrayed by the iconic Neve Campbell, creates a “coming home story” by reuniting the original cast and format.

Discussing her observations of Campbell on set, Camp noted the actress’s deep connection to her character and natural rapport with writer-director Kevin Williamson, who returned to helm Scream 7. “This character is so close to home,” Camp explained. “She’s grown up playing this role and knows immediately if the script isn’t right or if something wouldn’t be something Sidney would say.”
Camp admired the creative dynamic between Campbell and Williamson, calling it a “mastermind” relationship. “To watch their dialogue together and their shorthand, I was like, ‘I want that. I want a relationship like that with the director,’” she remarked.

On a personal note, Camp attended the Malta festival with her new girlfriend, Jade Whipkey, following their public relationship debut at the Bride Hard premiere. Addressing the media attention on their age difference—Camp is 42, Whipkey is 24—Camp acknowledged the challenges but also highlighted the overwhelming support she has received. “Coming out later in life and being in the spotlight is a lot to deal with, but it’s taught me to live authentically,” she said. “I’ve never been happier, and there’s more support than negativity.”
Camp revealed they have been together for nearly seven months, and their Malta trip was their first major vacation. She also shared that an Olympic medalist, who is in a similar age-gap relationship, offered words of encouragement to disregard critics. “She told me it was the most fulfilling relationship of her life. I appreciated that,” Camp said.

Professionally, Camp expressed eagerness to return to the stage and explore new theatrical roles. Alongside Scream 7’s upcoming release, she is preparing several independent films and actively producing multiple scripts. “I’m not waiting around for the phone to ring. I’m working on my own projects, which is really exciting,” she concluded.
