Liam Payne had multiple drugs in body at time of death

Liam Payne had multiple drugs in his system when he died at the age of 31, according to a recent research.

A partial autopsy revealed that Payne had "pink cocaine" — a recreational drug often combining methamphetamine, ketamine, and MDMA — in his system, as well as cocaine, benzodiazepine, and crack, according to an ABC News report on Monday. According to reports, an aluminum pipe was also discovered in his hotel room.

Payne died on October 16 after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina, as previously verified by Hollywood Above.

Payne had "serious injuries" that were incurable by the time rescue personnel reached the scene, according to Buenos Aires emergency services chief Alberto Crescenti.

"Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life," Crescenti told La Nacion. "Based on what the team saw, there was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death."

Crescenti continued, "The team could do absolutely nothing. There was no resuscitation because it had been determined that he had died. The entire body suffered severe injury."

Hollywood subsequently confirmed that Payne died from several injuries involving "internal and external hemorrhage," as described in his preliminary autopsy report. In accordance to the investigation, he died as a result of "multiple traumas".

The Forensic Medical Corps doctors reported 25 injuries, including "cranioencephalic injuries [that] were severe enough to cause death." The officials also stated that hemorrhages in Payne's head, chest, belly, and limbs "contributed to the mechanism of death." (It was unclear at the time if the fall was accidental because an inquiry into the occurrence was ongoing.)

Hollywood confirmed that Buenos Aires City Police officers were summoned to the CasaSur Palermo Hotel following a 911 call about a belligerent male who appeared to be under the influence.

In a transcribed transcript of a 911 conversation acquired by the BBC, the hotel's head receptionist stated that a guest had consumed "too many drugs and alcohol."

"So, we have a guest who is high on drugs and trashing the room," the caller claimed. "So, we need someone to come."

In a follow-up call, the speaker stated that the guest "may be in danger" because the hotel room had a balcony, and that the passenger was "trashing the entire room" whenever he was "conscious."

Prior to his death, Payne was open about his drug and alcohol issues. During a 2021 interview on the "Diary of a CEO" podcast, he stated that his early days with One Direction involved "pills and booze."

"There is some stuff that I've definitely never spoken about," he added at the time. "It was really, really serious. There was an issue."
