Blackpink’s Lisa Teams Up With White Lotus Producer for New Netflix Romantic Comedy
Lisa, widely known as a Thai rapper, vocalist, dancer, and actor who rose to global recognition through Blackpink, is preparing for another major screen project. Fresh from her acting debut in Season 3 of The White Lotus, she is now set to collaborate again with the show’s executive producer David Bernad. The duo will work together on a romantic comedy film for Netflix, with the screenplay being written by Set It Up writer Katie Silberman.

Details about the storyline remain undisclosed. However, individuals familiar with the project revealed that the concept was created during filming for The White Lotus. During production, Lisa and Bernad connected over their mutual admiration for Notting Hill, the 1999 romantic comedy featuring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. Soon afterward, they brought Silberman onboard, recognizing her reputation as a highly sought-after comedy writer known for Set It Up and Booksmart.
Production duties will be handled by Bernad through his Middle Child Productions company. Silberman will also produce as part of her exclusive multi-year creative agreement with Netflix. Executive production responsibilities will be handled by Alice Kang alongside Lisa.
Lisa is joining the project while also working on her first major movie role in TYGO, which is being developed as part of Netflix’s Extraction universe expansion.
The performer first achieved worldwide success as a member of Blackpink, one of the highest-selling girl groups in history. She launched her solo career in 2021 with the single album LALISA. In February last year, she released her first solo studio album, Alter Ego, which debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart.
In addition to music success, Lisa made her Coachella debut last year. She also entered television acting by portraying Mook in The White Lotus Season 3, a wellness specialist and romantic interest to Tayme Thapthimthong’s character, Gaitok, a peaceful Buddhist security guard. Lisa is professionally represented by WME, LLOUD, and JSSK.
Katie Silberman is recognized for writing Netflix’s Set It Up, one of the platform’s most-viewed romantic comedies starring Zoey Deutch and Glen Powell. She also co-wrote and produced Olivia Wilde’s Booksmart, which earned nominations from both the WGA and BAFTA for Best Original Screenplay. Silberman is represented by CAA, 42, and Myman Greenspan.
Bernad, an award-winning producer with Emmy, Golden Globe, Peabody, and PGA honors, is currently preparing the France-based fourth season of The White Lotus. His company is also working on Season 2 of the Emmy-nominated series Jury Duty, along with Little Brother, a Netflix comedy featuring John Cena and Eric André, which is currently in post-production. Bernad is represented by CAA and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
