‎Netflix Brings 'KPop Demon Hunters' Back to Theaters for Halloween Sing-Along Screenings

‎Netflix is reviving its hit animated film KPop Demon Hunters for a limited Halloween-themed theatrical run across major U.S. cinema chains. The fan-favorite fantasy adventure will return to AMC, Regal, and Cinemark theaters from October 31 through November 2 for special sing-along screenings where costumes are encouraged.

‎The Halloween event marks another significant step for Netflix, a company traditionally known for its streaming-first approach. The decision to bring KPop Demon Hunters back to the big screen signals growing collaboration between Netflix and major exhibitors. This is particularly notable as AMC, Regal, and Cinemark have historically avoided programming Netflix titles due to differing views on theatrical exclusivity windows.
‎KPop Demon Hunters follows a fictional K-pop girl group that battles demons through the power of music. The film first hit theaters for a brief two-day sing-along release in late August, earning approximately $18 million at the domestic box office. Its theatrical success surprised industry analysts, given that the movie had already debuted on Netflix two months earlier.
‎Since its streaming premiere in June, KPop Demon Hunters has become Netflix’s most-watched title to date. Its original soundtrack has also found mainstream success, with tracks like “Golden,” “Your Idol,” and “Soda Pop” charting on Billboard’s Hot 100 for several consecutive weeks. The renewed theatrical run aims to build momentum for the movie’s forthcoming sequel and encourage fans to revisit the hit on Netflix after the screenings.
‎AMC Theatres, the world’s largest cinema chain, is joining the re-release after initially sitting out the film’s first theatrical run. Around 400 AMC locations across the U.S. and Europe will now participate, marking a potential turning point in the relationship between Netflix and AMC.
‎An AMC spokesperson confirmed that discussions are ongoing between the two companies regarding future collaborations. Both parties view this partnership as a mutually beneficial opportunity, though no additional details have been disclosed.
‎The return of KPop Demon Hunters arrives at a time when the box office has seen slower performance throughout October. Its release, alongside Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone’s thriller Bugonia and the Twilight re-release, is expected to boost ticket sales during the Halloween weekend.
