‎Kate McKinnon Cast as Aphrodite in 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' Season 3

‎Kate McKinnon has officially joined the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3, taking on the role of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty. The upcoming season of the Disney+ series is currently filming in Vancouver and will adapt Rick Riordan’s third book, The Titan’s Curse.

‎According to the show’s official character description, Aphrodite can change her appearance based on the beholder and plays a crucial part in Percy Jackson’s journey. Her mission is to ensure that Percy, portrayed by Walker Scobell, understands the power and significance of love before she agrees to assist him in his quest.
‎McKinnon, celebrated for her decade-long tenure on Saturday Night Live from 2012 to 2022, received ten Emmy nominations and won twice for her outstanding performances. Her filmography includes acclaimed projects such as Bombshell (2019), Yesterday (2019), The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018), and the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot. She most recently appeared as Weird Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie (2023) and portrayed Carole Baskin in Peacock’s limited series Joe vs. Carole (2022). McKinnon will next star in Andrew Stanton’s upcoming Hulu sci-fi film In the Blink of an Eye.
‎Percy Jackson and the Olympians is based on Rick Riordan’s best-selling middle-grade book series. The television adaptation was co-created by Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, who also serves as showrunner alongside Dan Shotz. Executive producers include Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, Steinberg, Shotz, Craig Silverstein, Bert Salke, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, D.J. Goldberg, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Albert Kim, Jason Ensler, and Sarah Watson.
‎The ensemble cast features Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, and Daniel Diemer. The series made its Disney+ debut in 2023 and quickly became one of the platform’s most popular fantasy titles. Season 2 premieres on December 10, continuing Percy’s mythological adventures before McKinnon’s Aphrodite enters the story in Season 3.
