‎Jason Blum Celebrates 15 Years of Blumhouse
‎Blumhouse founder and producer Jason Blum opened the event by reflecting on the studio’s journey and its future. He highlighted the company’s commitment to discovering new voices in horror, referencing filmmakers such as Jordan Peele. Blum expressed his enthusiasm for nurturing emerging talent, emphasizing the energy and creativity young storytellers bring to the genre.
‎Upcoming Projects: The Mummy, The Other Mommy, and Scarpetta
‎Blum also spotlighted several new titles in development. Lee Cronin’s The Mummy received early praise from the producer, who called the upcoming release “really cool.” He also mentioned The Other Mommy, starring Jessica Chastain and directed by Rob Savage, and Scarpetta, a new series featuring Nicole Kidman.
‎New Game Reveal: Sleep Awake
‎A standout moment came with the introduction of Sleep Awake, a Blumhouse game developed by Eyes Out Studio in collaboration with Nine Inch Nails’ Robin Finck. The game blends full motion video with 3D gameplay and centers on a world where falling asleep leads to disappearance. Finck described it as “a world of panic where people vanish, leaving only void shadows behind.” The title combines story-driven puzzles with stealth and chase elements, with a soundtrack set for release on Milan Records.
‎Megan Fox Joins Five Nights at Freddy’s 2
‎Director Emma Tammi joined Jason Blum, Elizabeth Lail, and Matthew Lillard to discuss Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Tammi confirmed new animatronics, including Toy Freddy and Toy Bonnie, along with an expanded human cast. The sequel will introduce Megan Fox as the voice of Toy Chica, alongside Kellen Goff (Toy Freddy) and MatPat (Toy Bonnie). Tammi shared that Fox’s enthusiasm stemmed from her children’s love of the franchise and praised her performance for balancing authenticity to the games with her own interpretation.
‎Exclusive Black Phone 2 Footage Revealed
‎The panel closed with an appearance from the team behind The Black Phone 2, including Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Miguel Mora, Demián Bichir, and author Joe Hill. Attendees were treated to exclusive footage from the sequel, followed by a discussion of its emotional depth and expanded narrative.
‎Hill reflected on the story’s origins, noting that the original short story earned him just $35 before becoming a feature film. He commended the filmmakers for their heartfelt approach to storytelling. Hawke described director Scott Derrickson’s pitch for the sequel as “breathtaking,” adding that fan enthusiasm made the return even more meaningful. Thames and McGraw discussed how their characters evolve through trauma and growth, while Mora noted that the film’s exploration of grief and fear gives the sequel a powerful emotional core.
