Megan Thee Stallion shuts down Met Gala ban rumors: 'Anna Wintour loves me, babe'
Amid swirling speculation on social media, Megan Thee Stallion has firmly denied reports that she was banned from the 2025 Met Gala for using her phone inside the event. The Houston-born rapper addressed the claims during a conversation with People on Tuesday, May 13, setting the record straight with her signature blend of poise and humor.

“We’re gonna dead these rumors right now, OK?” she said. “People are like, ‘Oh my God, Megan, you got banned from the Met Gala.’ No, I didn’t, babe. Like, that’s not true.”
The rumor mill ignited after Megan shared behind-the-scenes footage from the gala via her popular “Hottie Cam,” which captured glimpses of the star-studded dinner table she shared with fellow artist Doechii and WNBA phenom Angel Reese. The trio sampled an opulent menu, including cornbread and caviar, truffle lobster rolls, and vegan lox.
Although phones are generally prohibited inside the event, Megan candidly addressed her use of social media during the evening: “We’re not supposed to have our phones, but we’re doing it,” she laughed in one clip.
Rather than sparking reprimand from event organizers, Megan clarified that Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour holds no hard feelings—in fact, quite the opposite.
“Y’all made that up and ran with it. They love making stuff up. Anna loves me, babe,” she declared. “That’s why my phone was out.”
Megan made a striking appearance at the annual fashion fête in a silver Michael Kors gown, complete with a dramatic white fur coat. Throughout the night, she was seen mingling with elite guests including Ciara, Serena Williams, and Lupita Nyong’o.
On the music front, Megan is channeling her creative energy into her upcoming album Act: III. The rapper has her eyes set on a collaboration with genre-defying artist Doechii. “I see Doechii, b—h, I love Doechii. I do want to do a song with Doechii,” she said during a TikTok livestream earlier this year. “That’s on my album wish list.”
As always, Megan Thee Stallion continues to balance style, authenticity, and unapologetic self-expression—both on the red carpet and in the studio.
