What happened in Argentina? Liam Payne's reaction to Kate Cassidy's early departure revealed

Liam Payne's final days are becoming clearer.

The One Direction alum died at the age of 31 following a deadly fall from a hotel balcony in Argentina on October 16, where he was vacationing with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy—though the 25-year-old had left for the United States days earlier.

Now, a video circulating on social media that Liam posted on his Snapchat in the days preceding up to his fall provides an inside look at his reaction to Kate's departure.

"So it's going to be a nice day," he told the camera as he sat at a table, before humorously singing to Kate, who was sitting offscreen, "then you're going home ha ha loser, weirdo."

Kate then intercedes, stating that she is returning to Florida with her dog Nala, causing Liam to send a message of solidarity regarding the bad weather caused by the hurricanes.

"I hope everybody was okay in Milton, as well," remarked the politician. "It's rather unsettling to witness from afar. I hope everyone was okay, and that all of the tiny dogs made it out safely. Some very tragic stories involving pets."

He then said to Kate, "Obviously, we're going home to see our dog, Nala."

The "Strip That Down" singer and Kate then chuckled at his various "random names" for Nala, with him smiling and saying, "None of them have anything to do with Nala."

Kate, for her part, explained why she opted to leave Argentina before Liam in a TikTok video uploaded on her page.

"I was so ready to leave," she explained on October 14. "Honestly, I enjoy South America, but I dislike remaining in one spot for too long. And we were scheduled to stay there for around five days, but it went into two weeks."

As she stated, "I was just like, 'I need to go home.'"

While Kate has not publicly reacted on her boyfriend's death, Liam has received several celebrity tributes, notably from former bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Niall Horan.

In addition to a collective statement posted on One Direction's social media account, each individual member also published a personal message. In his tribute, Niall remembered on being able to visit Liam two weeks before his death at Niall's Buenos Aires gig.

"I feel so fortunate that I got to see him recently," Niall said. "Unfortunately, I had no idea that after saying goodbye and hugging him that evening, I would be saying goodbye forever. It is sad."
