Arsenal Agree €20m Leandro Trossard Transfer to Besiktas Amid World Cup Campaign

Besiktas have reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign Leandro Trossard in a transfer worth €20million (£17.1m, $22.9m).

The proposed deal includes an initial €18million fee plus €2million in performance-related add-ons. However, the transfer has not yet been completed, with personal terms and a salary package worth up to around €9million still being finalized.

Trossard currently has one year remaining on his Arsenal contract. Although he agreed fresh terms in August 2025 that brought a significant salary increase, the agreement did not extend his stay beyond the existing 2027 expiry date.

The 31-year-old is currently representing Belgium at the World Cup, where his side is preparing for a last-16 clash against the United States on Monday. He has started all four matches under Rudi Garcia, scoring twice in the 5-1 group-stage victory over New Zealand and registering an assist in Belgium's 3-2 comeback win over Senegal in the last-32.

Because of his international commitments, the transfer is considered unlikely to move forward until Belgium's World Cup campaign comes to an end.

Trossard enjoyed an important role during Arsenal's 2025-26 Premier League-winning season, helping the club secure its first league title since 2004. Across all competitions, he made 50 appearances, scored eight goals, provided 11 assists and started 21 Premier League matches.

One of his defining moments came on May 10, when he scored an 83rd-minute winner away at West Ham United, helping Arsenal preserve a five-point lead over second-placed Manchester City during the title race.

Since arriving from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023 in a £27million ($35.8m) transfer, Trossard has been a consistent member of Mikel Arteta's squad. He has made 174 appearances, recording 36 goals and 34 assists while primarily featuring on the left wing and also filling a central attacking role when injuries affected the squad.

His most prolific campaign came in 2023-24, when he scored 16 goals across the Premier League and Champions League.

Before joining Arsenal, Trossard impressed during the opening half of the 2022-23 season with Brighton, scoring seven goals, including a hat-trick in a 3-3 draw against Liverpool. His professional career began in Belgium before making the move to English football.
