‎Real Madrid Set to Welcome Back Endrick After Lyon Loan Despite Strong Ligue 1 Performances

‎Endrick’s future club for the 2026-27 season has been confirmed by his agent following the Brazilian forward’s impressive beginning to life in France during his loan spell with Lyon. The striker made an immediate impression in Ligue 1, most notably scoring three goals in a dominant win over Metz. His form led to suggestions Lyon might try to keep him permanently, but his representative has now clarified the plan.

‎Endrick will return to Real Madrid after his Lyon loan, his agent confirms, following standout Ligue 1 performances and a controversial red card incident.

‎The 19-year-old has adapted quickly since joining Lyon during the January transfer window. The move came after he struggled for consistent playing time at Real Madrid, where he recorded just one La Liga start this season. In France, he quickly made his presence felt, assisting in his first game against Brest and then delivering a hat-trick performance soon after. His early success led to talk that Paulo Fonseca wanted him to remain at Lyon beyond this season.

‎However, Tiago Freitas dismissed the speculation, confirming Endrick will return to Real Madrid. Speaking to Win Win, he explained the loan deal lasts only six months and does not include a purchase option. He stressed that the situation is completely clear and confirmed Endrick will be back at Madrid once the current season ends. While the future beyond that remains uncertain, Freitas insisted the player will be a Real Madrid footballer again when the campaign concludes.

‎Freitas also explained why Endrick found it difficult to earn minutes at Madrid. He stated the forward adapted immediately, scoring in his first matches across the Champions League, domestic league, and cup competitions. He also highlighted the intense attacking competition at the club, referencing Vinícius Júnior, Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, and Rodrygo as world-class players occupying attacking roles.

‎He noted that it is natural for a young player to see limited minutes after joining such a high-level team, especially considering Endrick missed pre-season, did not travel to the United States for the Club World Cup, and suffered injuries. Being absent for several months at a club like Madrid makes returning to regular action difficult.

‎After his strong opening spell in France, Endrick experienced a setback when he was sent off in Lyon’s 1-0 victory over Nantes. The teenager kicked Dehmaine Tabibou and was initially shown a second yellow card before VAR changed the decision to a straight red card. Fonseca defended him after the match, calling the punishment extremely harsh. He argued that a foul on Endrick occurred beforehand and claimed opponents have shown aggressive intent toward the player, adding referees should protect talents like him.

‎The Brazilian forward is now awaiting confirmation of his suspension length, with a ruling expected Wednesday. He is certain to miss Lyon’s match against Nice on Sunday and hopes to avoid a longer two-match suspension.
